Course of Study
Writing the dissertation is the sole requirement in the D.PHIL in Economics and Management program.
The process begins with selecting a well-defined, research-driven topic that (at least partially) contributes to the fields of economics and management. Formulating a strong research question or hypothesis is essential to guide the study. The dissertation involves conducting rigorous theoretical research, analyzing economic models, management theories, and real-world data.
The Doctor of Philosophy (D.PHIL) in detail:
Study content:
In the Doctor of Philosophy (D.PHIL) program you will be required to write a comprehensive dissertation. You have the freedom to select your dissertation topic from a broad academic spectrum, allowing you to focus on an area that aligns with your interests and expertise. However, since the specialization in Economics and Management will be noted in the Diploma Supplement, your dissertation must demonstrate at least a partial connection to this field.
If you already have existing work or publications of appropriate quality, you may use them as a foundation for your dissertation. This can provide a valuable starting point, enabling you to expand or refine your previous research into a complete and polished academic contribution.
The program is designed to offer maximum flexibility, with no mandatory lectures, exams, or rigid timelines. This allows you to tailor your studies to your personal and professional commitments while pursuing your academic goals at your own pace.
Duration of study:
The usual period of study is 2 years. Since there is no minimum length of study, committed students can graduate quickly with us. If you take more time than 2 years, there will be no additional costs.
